Brown & Sharpe Spindle Clutches are machined from flat plate clutch material was good enough for other machine tools, but they needed better. The answer was Tufnol molded to the clutch backing plate. By molding it in place over the steel insert, the fiber in the clutch material would lie in the correct direction for superior service life.
